<p class="western"><span style="font-size: medium"><strong><span style="font-family: Candara, sans-serif">Hands- on start to your Course Day by learning how to correctly hand-milk (make sure you have nice warm hands)! Learn all about what&rsquo;s involved with keeping a dairy animal (it is probably rather more complex than you may be thinking!), be they Caprine (Goats), Bovine (Cows) and even Ovine (Sheep) and their needs to maintain good health, milk production, reproduction, needs for companionship and the difficult realities of off-spring destiny resultant when producing milk for human consumption! We will explore which species is likely to be best suited to your needs (you may well find this quite illuminating!) and what to look for when purchasing a dairy animal? The day covers dairy hygiene, home-pasteurisation issues and registered keeper legislation. We will make some cheese from your morning milking session and discuss making yoghurt, ice cream, butter etc. Offered only as &lsquo;Bespoke/Family&rsquo; private course day to ensure genuine learning experience OR as part of your residential stay in our luxury holiday cottage where you can take as may or as few days of assorted self sufficiency training/consultancy as you would like.
