A smallholding course – the perfect Christmas gift
Christmas is the time when folk take stock and decide whether this new year will see them putting those dreams into practice; and one of the most popular dreams for people living in hectic times is a life of self sufficiency and smallholding.
With twenty years experience of doing it for themselves, Debbie Kingsley and Andrew Hubbard run courses for budding smallholders who want to test drive their dreams before taking the plunge into the good life, at South Yeo Farm West, their beautiful 108 acre Devon farm. Increasingly, people are buying places on their courses as gifts for a loved one who may have been turning over the idea of a change of pace for a while, and many people come as couples, using the weekend to make some firm decisions for the future.
The courses have been hugely well received by participants who come from all over the country and as far afield as Switzerland. The days of learning are enhanced by great home-produced lunches and Devon cream teas, and people leave feeling as if they have been on a fascinating weekend away with friends in lovely surroundings, but still stuffed with new knowledge.
